Demand Avoidance

Dear Kari,

I learned about Demand Avoidance as part of a range of things that can be part of autism. And the concept poked at me because of how many times I've refused to pay a bill simply because I knew I had to do it.

Maybe knowing that DA is possible will help me be kinder to myself. I feel far less likely to do things I need to do the closer I am to living in a survival state. I think it's because the closer I am to survival, the more every single thing feels like I'm being forced to do it.

Stuff like this is why my brain is glowing, and I feel like my life is as exciting as a movie. And why I feel far more understanding and empathetic for the people that mean the most to me.

I feel a question like "how was it possible to survive for so long with things like demand avoidance, and avoidant attachment, and so many other things that might not be known about, crushing down with their weight?"

Learning about this dramatically changes the way that I'm gonna show for up for my loved ones. So much Matrix.
